Although Austria is often imagined as an ‘Island of the Blessed’, there are of course social problems too. The writing on the walls criticizes that many old Viennese buildings were turned into luxury hotels in the last years. Concretely the grafitto claims to build community centers instead of hotels.

The best view over the entire city offers the Kahlenberg (mountain, 484 m or 1,588 ft) located in the 19th District of Vienna. On the flanks of the Kahlenberg wine is grown, which makes Vienna one of the few cities with urban wine production.

Normally not worth a post, but as there has been heavy rain in Austria for days … So I snapped my camera in a sunny break and went to the Kahlenberg to enjoy the warm rays.  I think the visitor on the bench had the same idea …

This is the so-called ‘Palmenhaus’ (Pavillon of Palms) which offers shelter for palms and other non-residential plants. I really appreciate that she is sitting there and ignoring the busy and posh world around her.
