My dear readers,
in a few days I will move on to NYC. Since I am a first timer in this surely vibrant city, I’d love to learn your experiences. What to do, what to see, what to photograph? Any feedback will be appreciated very much!

Oh my, lucky you! Here are some things I would do in NYC, just off the top of my head:
Take a walk on the High Line
Visit the Whitney Museum of Modern Art (and all the other usual suspects like MoMA, but they are so insanely expensive)
Grab a Cambodian Sandwich at Num Pang
Watching Manhattan in the sunset from Brooklyn Heights Promenade
Spend an afternoon at Brooklyn Bridge Park
Get some Caribbean grove (and food) in Bed Stuy
Hang out the Public Library on 42nd Street
Hang out at Columbia University and watch spoiled ivy league students
Visit Jean-Michel Basquiat and Leonard Bernstein at Greenwood Cemetary
Take the Staten Island Ferry, because it’s cool and free
Spend hours and hours and hours Strand Book Store…
Ok, gotta go. Enjoy yourself (and I might be back with more suggestions later)!
Barbara
Thank you so much for that wonderful list! And yes, I feel super lucky and blessed 🙂
Are you going there for work (i.e. stay for a longer period) or just visiting?
Both, work and visiting 🙂
Cool 🙂
How could I forget… Go on the wooden escalators at Macy’s on 5th Ave 🙂
Oh thanks … sounds like a wonderful tip 🙂
Wow, that’s great news! Congratulations! Visit the library or an exhibition at the Austrian Cultural Forum and take a photo of the landmark building. If possible, visit Fred Ritchin at the International Center of Photography. He’s definitely worth listening to. And yes, the Staten Island Ferry is always a good idea. 🙂
Oh thanks. The Austrian Cultural Forum sounds wonderful. Is it possible that Austrian institutions finally become a bit cooler 😉 I def will check oft the Center of Photography and the German speaking regulars’ table of Holocaust survivors. Best Chael
