A privileged life

Susanna Salk
A PRIVILEGED LIFE. CELEBRATING WASP STYLE

Wasp

This book could have been very interesting. Unfortunately it is not. Definitively a plus are the sometimes really fabulous photos showing the WASPy ubringing of the author. They are accompanied by photos of the most prominent protagonists of WASP style. The biggest minus are the missing contexts and an informed analysis. Therefore the book is just another booklet promoting a privileged lifestyle, but not asking for the representation at work and the sometimes well-hidden social dimensions and relations.

Photo reconnaissance

If your are photography enthusiast you should check out the top ten photos of 2012 by the Time Magazine. Interestingly enough only two photos show women, and natch, in their traditional roles as representatives of beauty and grief: ‘TIME Picks the Top 10 Photos of 2012’

There is also a section for the ten most surprising photos of 2012: ‘Time Picks the Most Surprising Photos of 2012’

And last but not least, you should not miss the very interesting photo essay on the US president: ’48 hours with Barack Obamba’.
