A childhood memory …
‘Niemetz’ is a very traditional Austrian confectionery manufacturer in the third district of Vienna (Landstraße). The roots of the company date back to a cafe and pastry shop in Linz, that was founded by Edmund Niemetz in 1890.
The very lovely factory outlet with Sixties design
Niemetz is known for the production of ‘Schwedenbomben’ (chocolate-coated marshmallow treats), ‘Manya’ (a hazelnut-cream bar with chocolate icing) and ‘Swedy’ (a peanut-cream bar with chocolate icing). The products are sold in almost every country in Europe.
The storied ‘Schwedenbomben’
Unfortunately the company ran into financial difficulties. If you want to show your solidarity, you can join this Facebook group: „Rettet die Niemetz-Schwedenbombe“
If you want to pay a visit to the factory outlet you can find it here:

An office like a home
I know that the business practices of Google are sometimes really questionable, but the new Google office in Tel Aviv is simply stunning. I must admit that I envy the Google staff a bit.

Kunst Haus Wien – Museum Hundertwasser
Untere Weißgerberstraße 13, 1030 Vienna
31 January to 26 May 2013
Saul Leiter (born 1923 in Pittsburgh) is one of the leading pioneers of colour photography. Starting in 1946 he has been using this technology, which was regarded unartistic by his colleagues.
The exhibition in the ‘Kunst Haus Wien’ shows his early black-and-white and color photography, fashion photography, painted over nudes, paintings and a selection of his sketchbooks. But also new photographic works will be presented, that Saul Leiter still takes on the streets of New York’s East Village.
