This is a photo of an entrance to the Viennese underground and a shopping center. The correct spelling would be ‘Opernpassage’, but as it is an art installation too, it is written in the way it would be pronounced.
But this ‘wrong’ spelling caused quite a stir among the residents, because they thought that this sign is an ‘accident’. The Viennese underground operator has been so heavily phoned and criticized for this ‘mistake’, that it finally decided to replace the sign.
What does this tell us? Well, sometimes it is hard to be an artist and to reach people … and sometimes it is even harder when in Vienna.
